MinisterofPork-Death Guard-Complete! 2nd half summary pg.13

Postby Ministerofpork » Mon Dec 16, 2013 11:15 am

For this years challenge I have been working hard to create a swiss army knife army, something that could be multi-purpose. I don’t mean on the battlefield but how it can be fielded. I have structured this army so I can build it as a chaos space marine army, a regular space marine army or a 30k army. My feeling is that no matter what changes a codex goes thru over the years I will always be able to use this force in some way.

Going back to third edition I have had a deep rotten love in my cold dead heart for nurgle. In addition the models I will be working on for the challenge I am working on a nurgle themed chaos daemon ally army (which will not be included in my commitments to this challenge). This way not only can I use these new models for a variety of codices but I can also use them with different allies (daemons or even the necrons I did for last years challenge). This should help me to really mix things up, keep the army interesting and allow this force to be the multi-tasker I want in a second army.

With all of that being said, the core of my army will be a Horus Heresy 30k era Death Guard force. The Forge World books and models are just too cool for me to ignore. I’ve been assembling this force slowly over the past year. Again, by using heresy era Death Guard I won’t feel cheesy using this army as either a chaos or regular space marine force (although to be honest, I’ll probably always use them as Chaos because good is dumb). Most of the models are assembled and primed so when the clock hits February 1 I will be ready to GO!

Here is my list for ZM. I will be using the defender force org.

HQ

Legion Praetor w/Paragon blade and Boarding shield 135-completed

Elites

Legion Veteran Tactical Squad, +1 missile Launcher, power weapon 160-completed

Troops

Legion Breacher Siege Squad, +1 graviton gun, +1 lascutter, thunder hammer 270-completed

Legion Tactical Squad, power fist 165-completed

Legion Tactical Support Squad, +4 plasma gun, plasma pistol 175-completed

Legion Tactical Support Squad, 4 flamers, plasma pistol 115-completed

TOTAL 1020 completed

Here is what I'm thinking for my 2000 point force. Still unsure of a few things so this list may change. Specifically if Mortarion comes out I'm adding him to the mix. I will be using the rite of war "reaping" for death guard featured in HH2: Massacre for the 2000 point list. This will turn my elite choices of veteran tact squads (from my ZM list) and heavy support squads into non-compulsory troop choices.

Troops

Heavy Support Squad (made troops by the rite of war) all armed with heavy flamers 135-completed
Rhino 35- completed

Elite

Destroyer Squad with jump packs 390- completed

Heavy Support

Legion Sicaran Battle Tank 135-completed
Predator Executioner 110- completed
Fire Raptor 220- complete

TOTAL= 1025 Completed

GRAND TOTAL 2045 Completed

Here are my test models I completed a few months ago to get my scheme and recipe down. I don't really have a good one of the death shroud terminator. Now I will patiently wait until the challenge starts.

Your 'test models' look better than my finished models!
I'll be looking forward to seeing your progress in the HPC.

Death Guard are a great chapter and that color scheme will
look great in a Zone Mortalis force.

Thanks,
Tom

Ok, here we go. For my February commitment we've got a 10 man Legionary Tactical Squad.
