Just listened to the audio drama 'PARTING OF THE WAYS'

**** SPOILERS ****

The story (part of it anyway) takes place @ 300 years after the Seige of Terra.

When the Wolves gather for the Feast of the Emperors Ascension (and when Russ leaves for his quest) the narrator notes that in violation of the codex the Chapter numbers around 2000 -- and that all the Wolves are there.

Later when Helwinter is trying to convince Bjorn to become the Great Wolf (well before internment) he makes the comment that there is no one left in the Chapter that remembers the Great Crusade or even the Heresy itself. Except for Bjorn.

Bjorn does not dispute this.

So the implication is that just 300 years after the end of the Heresy, give or take, and the ENTIRE Chapter has been killed off and replaced by subsequent generations of new inductees.

Which raises the question of just what happened to the Wolves - who weren't on Terra, but obviously had Prosperous, Alleaxes, and the Scouring to thin their numbers.

Pre Prospero I think they were at @70,000

my thinking then is that they experienced a war total Legion death by the end of the Scouring?

Right?

But they make that turnover a key part of the argument for why Bjorn needs to snap in and take over the Chapter.
