You're making good progress :)
What's your plan for basing?

Unit #2 with carapace base coat complete.

I currently have no plans for basing. My Salamanders have a desert base, but I was thinking about getting the urban battlefield mat from Frontline, so maybe I'll do urban.

Next will be the blue wash.

Here is my March commitment 100%

Image

My secret weapon washes arrived just in time. Here are the paints I used: White primer, GW Sepia Wash, Dawnstone, GW Asureman wash, Dried Blood wash from Secret Weapon.

Now to finish the Hormagants!

I wanted to see how close Secret Weapon Sapphire was to the GW Azureman.

I did one hormagant with the Sapphire as my test dummy.

As you can see, the Secret Weapon wash is definitely more blue, less grey. I will probably not try to change the formula even though they aren't a perfect match. The color looks great still. When they are all in a massive pile, I don't think they will be that noticeable, and if they are all mixed in a huge swarm, it will give a more organic look to the whole army. I might just do half with one, and half with the other.

Here is the whole unit almost complete. All they need is a little red in the joints and mouth area.

I love the look! I can't wait to see it on some bigger bugs! Are you going to do an Old One Eye? Seems fitting with the crab scheme.

Cheers,

Well, eventually:

Here is THE Old One Eye model circa 2002. It was primed black for an old scheme, but I will prime him white like the rest.

Yeah, I'm also struggling with ~70 gants to assemble - 30 to make the Tervigon troops and the rest for her "Ammo" xD

I got one brood of gaunts done over the weekend. I didn't date it because its not part if this months commitment. I have some genestealers that are primed and ready though. I'm testing a new primer on them. I hope the wash sticks well.
