BeerSkunk - Groevian Fiends

Post by beerskunk » Tue Apr 01, 2014 7:15 pm

Their webway portal lost, their warp-capable flagship destroyed, and their home world decimated by Duke Sliscus, the bounty hunter cadre known as the Groevian Fiends were believed slaughtered by Sliscus' genocidal assault. But like the reptiles they pattern themselves after, they have merely sloughed their old skin for new and emerged reborn.

Led by Shaevian Dal, former Succubus for the Wytch Cults in Comorragh, the Groevian Fiends have slithered across the galaxy for over a century. Every decade draws them closer to the Dark City and nearer their prey - Duke Sliscus.

But not for revenge, to fulfill their bargain.

I'm late to the party and will have to wait until May for my first official entry, but here's a post of work in progress.

All the weapons are being magnetized.

The rider is currently being painted. I'll post a pic when she's finished and ready for her fancy new bike.

Wicked. The decision not to do the scales on the wings was the right one. Just on the body was perfect. I love the look of this.

Well. You have my attention.

The wife suggested the driver needed a little more character, which in her world means it needed a Hello Kitty tattoo.

She was right. ;)

The black outline for Hello Kitty was done with a Pigma Brush. They're fantastic for super fine detail. What I often use them for is to layout the design as a guide for painting over with a fine detail brush.

The red bow, white face, and yellow nose were done with a fine detail brush.

I've been working on my paint scheme for the troops. Looking them over, I decided trying to do the snake scale pattern on their armor would be overkill on the table. I think having the scales painted on everything would reduce their visual impact.

So, I went back to my original inspiration which was a picture of a tropical snake with bright green and yellow skin.

This is what I've come up with.
