HPC 2016 - Grinnial's Orks and Other Awesome Things

Postby GrinnialVex » Tue Jan 19, 2016 5:47 pm

So, it's a new year, new challenge, and here's a new thread for the new orks that I'll be adding to my ever growing WAAAGH!!! Besides, last year was full of lots of failure on my part... lets try not to repeat all that again

Anyway, I'm already working on ten boyz for February, although I'm hoping to have them done before February. Adepticon is coming, after all, and I want to cram in two new squads of boyz for all that.

Yeah, we're ready for primer already!

I don't think I can keep myself from converting every damned Ork model I build at this point. I need to have them all deifferent somehow, because Orks just don't feel right when you have a bunch of identical things going on, you know? I've also built up lots of confidence with the plasticard as a medium, and I really enjoy working with it now.

Anyway, I'm really excited to start slapping on base colors tomorrow!

Oh look, February is done!

I forgot to draw up a completion card for them so haven't dropped this in the completion thread yet, but I'll knock that out later today along with posting up my March commitment.

March is going to be... MOAR ORKS!!! Lol, one more unit of 10 boyz, but I'm planning on doing lots of extra plasticard work to them.

Love the bold colours. It's so nice to see. Looking exceptional!

I really like the color scheme of your Orks, and I completely agree with you that Orks look infinitely better when each one of them is customized.

Thanks!

The current batch is all built and ready for paint smearing:

I really tried to scratch build as much as I thought I could get away with on these guys, given the time frame. I ultimately want to mix these guys into the rest of what I have to make three mobs of boyz, and I really want these guys to provide an extra pop of variety. So, most of them got custom choppas and I really went to town on the shoulder pads. I've glued on over s hundred rivets here, although you can't completely tell because of the lighting.

Anyway, I'm really excited to start throwing paint at them!
