Duuuuude, spray paint wasn't completely dry when I flipped the whirlwind turret to spray the bottom...pulled the layer of spray paint off the plastic wrap I was basing on. F@[COPYRIGHT SIGN]k! Anyone had to sand that type of crap off before? Any advice?

Even though it's spraypaint primer, it sounds like, you want ultrafine grit, like 800 or 1000. Here's a chart - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandpaper#Grit_size_table

Even an emery board, like what is used for fingernails, is sometimes ok, but they might leave some particulate behind depending on what they're made of. The problem is wielding a long stick rather than a shap-eable sandpaper you can put on the end of a brush or wad up and put on the end of something.

If you get "normal" sandpaper, you're going to be scoring the plastic pretty quick. I have some miniature files that I would do this with - not miniature in size, but for miniature building purposes.

You can find tiny files at dedicated hobby shops. Even a basic DIY or Home Improvement store should have the ultra-fine sandpaper. The emery or nail boards can be found at most stores in the same aisle is nail polish.

Make sure you brush or blow off all the sanded paint and the leftovers from whatever you use to sand it off!

Perfectly doable though.

Gorgeous. :D No idea how I haven't commented in this thread yet.

Thanks mapple, the sand paper worked great. I was worried about scoring but the ultra fine grit was like buttah.

Thank you as well Valeria! These forums are a great ego boost and motivator.

Here are the Whirlwind and DC Drop Pod.

I should have made the X template for the drop pod out of something a little sturdier than paper. Not completely happy with how the xs turned out. They aren't bad but a little crisper would have been nice.

Your vehicles are kicking an already awesome project up one more notch. They are extremely crisp and striking, well done. I think my favorite has to be the death company pod with the overspray on the markings. Maybe a happy accident, but it really conjures an image of last minute fall to the black rage;

Thanks Cicero! I'd like to make a Flesh Tearers force too, weather them and make them grimey to contrast with these popinjays.

What is the base of your captain model? Is he a Pedro kitbash?
