Whitestagg- Strike Force Castigon (Blood Angels 4th Company)

Post by Whitestagg » Fri Jan 04, 2013 3:00 pm

I have decided to use the HPC to complete my BA army. I know it is a crap list but I want to paint a variety of units. I want a number of models that i can later swap into other units (Devs with magnetic heads that can be repurposed as Tactical Marine heavy weapons) as well. Also, to be honest, there is 0 tournament scene where I live and my play group is not really hard core win addicts; a nice mix of competition and using cool units cause they are cool. :ugeek:

Here is my list;
Strike Force Castigon (1850 pts. I.C. Hobby Progress Challenge)
  • 135- Lord Adjudicator Castigon; Combi-melta, Power Fist (AUG pledge)
185- The Knights of Baal (Honor Guard); Blood Champion, Company Standard, Power Fist, Melta Gun (AUG pledge)

    35- Drop Pod (SEP pledge)

160- Reclusiarch Castus; Terminator Armor (FINISHED FEB)
210- The Archangels (1st Comp. Terminator Assault Squad); Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield x2, Lightning Claws x3 (FINISHED MAY)

255- The Heralds (Sanguinary Guard); Death Masks, Power Fist, Infernus Pistols x2 (FINISHED JAN)

80 (170)- 4th Company 3rd Squad 'Baal's Fists' (Tactical Squad); x10, Flamer, Missile Launcher (FINISHED JUN)
(I'd already painted 5 of these guys so I'll replace them and Plasma gun with the Whirlwind below)

100- The Lost (Death Company); x5, bolters (FINISHED MAR)
    35- Drop Pod (OCT pledge)

225- 4th Company 7th Squad 'The Blood Rain' (Assault Squad); Meltagun x2, Power Weapon (FINISHED APR)

140- 4th Company 9th Squad 'the Hammer of Baal' (Devastator Squad); Las Cannon, Plasma Cannon, Missile Launcher, Heavy Bolter (FINISHED JUL)

100- 4th Company Predator, 'Baal's Spear'; Auto-cannon, Heavy Bolter Sponsons (SEP pledge)

100- 4th Company Assault Bike Squad 'Sanguine Deliverance'; Multi-Melta x2 (NOV pledge)

    (90)- Whirlwind (OCT pledge)
I know it is a weird list. On one hand it will get wrecked in serious games, but on the other its not completely fluffy. I just want to paint a number of different units and use models that I have (FW BA termy shoulder pads, Sang. Guard etc.) Also, there are no tournaments in my area anyway so it is not a big deal.

Going to do the 5 Sanguinary guard first!

January Pledge

Ok, I may have solved my problem. I haven't done any photo work on a computer in forever (and never with a mac) so I should be alright from here on out. Have a look at the work so far.

Did the brown base coat and gold coat on all of them!

Look at those fancy lads all tarted up!

Also, the drink for today is Jameson's and soda accompanied by a nice cinnamon candle (Christmas Yankee candle is on sale at Target people!)

We have a BA player in our group, I HATE fighting against these guys!

I usually run away!

With that candy coating of golden paint, they look even more menacing!

Running away just turns them on even more!

Finished washing the gold bodies, did some work on the reds for the shoulder pads, base white for the wings, got the blond hair painted and finished up the guns. Lots of little steps and it is a camera phone pic so you can't really tell but progress on lots of little minor stuff.

Glenlivet 12yr. and soda compliments of my lovely wife.

January Pledge all finished up

Post by Whitestagg » Fri Jan 25, 2013 2:23 pm

Ok, so here is the finished squad of Sanguinary Guard. That being said, the power weapons are not painted. I have struggled with painting power weapons and making them look cool. I can not seem to get it right and most of the tutorials are for people with air brushes that I do not have so I am going to leave them black. They are way past tournament standard so I am assuming that this is ok. If I ever decide/ get the chance to go to a tournament then I will have to do something about them but for right now they are donesky.

All of their heads as well as the left and right arm for the non-two handed wielders are magnetized.

They turned out really nice. Great job.

I hear what you're saying on the power weapons. I've struggled with them for years.
