So I played my first game and I'm in love with the new book. Lots of good stuff in there, but I think it will still be hard to play well. I was really nervous when on the first turn the Dark Angels player I was up against (first time I've played them). Deepstruck his terminators and scout moved his bikes within range and obliterated all of my troops. Not going to take heavy guardians again (though the Jetbikes are fine). A few quick things I noticed:

The wraithknight is amazing! It obliterated a 10 strong Terminator squad between the Suncannon (twin linked and then assaulting). Crimson Hunter was fun, and Vector Dancer is really nice, you can put it pretty much anywhere on the table you need it (though i think the Exarch upgrade is required to really make sure it does it's job). War Walkers are still great and being able to run them into cover or out of line of sight after firing is amazing. Pretty much everything in Heavy Support is awesome.

I didn't get a chance to try a bunch of stuff as he wiped half the army off first turn. I think Wave Serpents are going to be very popular again as they can really help keep your troops alive.

A few crappy cell phone pictures.

A few updates. I made a bunch of bases last night. I need to do a whole bunch more but this will get me started. Also assembled and primed some swooping hawks, which is just awesome that I'm thinking about running them. Do to some miscasts I'll be getting another box from GW and I've managed to hide or fix most of the problems.

I counted up what I have painted up so far and I have 2200 points painted up. I probably have another 1000 points that is in progress and bunch of Tau allies as well. Speaking of which after a trade last week I have around 2000 points of them. Not bad for a force I've only purchased one new model and acquired everything for about $100.

Finished up two Wave Serpents that I started a while ago. Did a slight conversion where I moved the turret weapons to the side. They are also magnetized to switch the weapons out.

Took a few pictures tonight, meant to do the whole army, but can't fit the whole thing where I normally shoot, and the large table is occupied tonight. I did include a shot of the 6 skimmers I do have painted up and also some more WIP shots of the Wraithknight.

I hesitate to call you a prolific genius due to the negative connotations regarding quality generally assumed with those who are prolific.

You are a paint monster.

Coming from someone with like 10000 points of painted Orks I will take that as a big complement.

A quick update. I've assembled a new box of Wraithguard and primed them. I was going to magnetize them but just decided not to bother. I'm going to put the D-Sythe on more for the looks than anything.

Nice! I like the purpley/pink swords with the turquoisy base color.
Survival is no birthright, but a prize wrested from an uncaring galaxy by forgotten heroes. Study the alien, the better to kill it.

Thanks for the nice comments. I have a picture here of my 1850 list I'm taking tomorrow to play a friend of mine. I'll try and get pics of the game in progress, but his army has no paint and will have a bunch of counts-as proxies as well.
