It was a massive culture shock to my group to be sure lol. We just decided it wasn't our thing and kept on with AD&D, we usually came up with our own adventures anyway and alternated with D6 Star Wars and Call of Cthulhu.

For the record TSR was going under. WOTC "saved them" by purchasing them.

What they did after that is open to debate I suppose...
...and it wasn't like TSR was drama free, ever. haha plenty of wargamers were none too pleased with the way the SPI acquisition was handled for instance and how TSR screwed over existing subscribers.
