 Ceasarian- Grey Knights
Well one of my major hobby goals has been to finish up all of my unpainted/ unfinished Grey Knight models, of which I have many (some may argue that I have a plethora). I used to have a fully painted 1850pt Grey Knight army for the Demon Hunters Codex, and loved the feeling that I got being able to field an entire painted army of GKs on the board. I'm hoping to get that feeling again soon, but this time with the new and improved GKs.
My Strategy: I currently have a sizable amount of Grey Knights painted up, including 13 GKSS, a Dread, Rhino, SR and two terminators almost completed. These units fit nicely in my 1500pt list, and are included in my side board for the most part. The 1850pt list included below is the remainder of the uncompleted/ un-started Grey Knights that I currently own (all of these models are either half assembled/ not started as of yet).
This list has been changed as of October 2nd, 2011. However, I have the old list still posted here, along with the new list right after it. Grey Knights List: 1850 points Headquarters: Librarian with Shrouding, Sanctuary, Might of Titan & Force Sword……………………................165pts Grey Knight Grand Master with a force Halberd, 3x Servo Skulls, and Rad grenades........……210pts Total Headquarters Points Cost: 375 points

What follows was the second revised army list that I did back in October (or is it Orktober? Hm...). I'm revising the list following playing a few games with the Grey Knights and learning the codex a bit more. I feel that I can now build far better army lists that will overall play more effectively.
Headquarters: Librarian with Shrouding, Sanctuary, Might of Titan, Quicksliver & Force Sword…................170pts Grey Knight Grand Master with a master crafted force Halberd, Rad grenades, and psychotroke grenades..........................................................................................................……215pts Total Headquarters Points Cost: 385 points

1846/1850
Below I have my new and hopefully more permanent list for my Grey Knights. I made these choices based off of the results of several games that I got to play in a mini-campaign with some old college friends. Almost every time my opponent targeted the Purifier squads' Razorback first, and with only five models inside it often awarded an easy kill point for them. I tried out a new list recently using five terminators instead, and had far better results. I have added them into this list instead of the Purifiers. -March List Change

1850/1850
List changed 3/11/2012: I have made another list change in this final month, choosing to cut out the Dread knight from my painting challenge list. I understand that this may be viewed as a cop out at the last minute (but hey at least I didn't make all of my models Paladins- despite a strong desire to do so). I instead added a series of upgrades across all of the units in the army. Ironically the use of psybolt ammo has been something I have been utilizing in my units in games recently, especially the larger squads (str 5 shots en mass ruins anyone's day), but I have not changed the list here so I could fit more into the list (ex the DK). So I have explained how I have taken the DK out whilst remaining at 1850pts but I failed to explain the why. I'm currently in graduate school with the goal of getting a masters in education (although there are zero jobs out there for social studies....alas). As such this month is going to be nuts with a ton of homework and making progress on final projects and actual teaching. In addition to this I want to get my display board and some work done on some stuff for my Adepticon team finished up. All of these things take time and I am not willing to rush on the DK or any of the others things just to get them completed in time. I will finish the DK later on however in due time after Adepticon.
Side Board: 2 Terminators Justicar with a Daemon Hammer & a Terminator with a PsyCannon & Halbred………………....................…………...110pts Dreadnought with 2x twin-linked auto-cannons with Psybolt ammo………............……………...135pts Grey Knight Strike Squad 10 GKSS- Master Crafted Daemon Hammer (on the justicar) 2x PsyCannons, and 5x Halberds. The squad is equipped with Psybolt ammo. This squad is in a Rhino tank equipped with psybolt ammo…………………………….............................…………………………………...325pts Total Side Board Cost: 570pts

 Re: Ceasarian- Grey Knights
Thanks for the heads up- this is why I cannot have nice things. I have edited my monthly schedule of models to paint now. Here are the before and after images. The first image is of the two terminators for my side board- which from what I gather can be somewhat painted. These two GKT's still have to be highlighted/ free hand added/ glowing effects/ clean up. Thus, while they may appear to be nearly done, there really more about halfway-ish. The second imagine is of the First Grey Knight Squad that I am currently working on. It will include two of the old metal GKT's (one will be converted to be a justicar), and 3x of the new plastics. I believe by combining the plastic and metal Grey Knights I'll be able to spread out my budget a bit as well as create a more interesting army in the end. -Cease

 Re: Ceasarian- Grey Knights
It has been a couple of days, but I have managed to get finally get some forward movement on the painting challenge. For the first month- June I have pledged to completed the 2x terminators from my side board, 5x terminators from just about scratch, assemble a dreadnought, and convert/ paint my librarian. It's a bit of a tall order- but hopefully I'll be able to reach it. Here are the pictures of the first two models completed for the challenge- a Justicar with Daemon Hammer and Terminator with a Psycannon from my side board (both of these models were fairly far along prior to the start of the challenge- thus they have been banished to the side board). The reason for starting this challenge off with these two is to try out a few new techniques with my NMM. I wanted to try to get a sharper paint job- that I had gotten on my tanks/ vehicles but I couldn't managed to get on my infantry until now. I also wanted to try some new things on the weapons (coating them in gloss varnish- as the rest of the model is covered in matte). Now that I have some new ideas down- I'm rather looking forward to working on the 5x GKT's. Da Pictures: Both of the Terminators- Justicar- GKT with Psycannon- Freehand on the Psycannon- Sword detail- The next 5x Grey Knight Terminators. For the challenge this month I have to paint these models. the unit is comprised of a Justicar with a Daemon Hammer, 2x Force Swords, 2x Halberds and of course an Incinerator. The models are a combination of old metal GK's and new plastics. For the next part of the challenge this month I have to assemble the Dreadnought with 2x twin-linked autocannons with psybolt ammo. Here is a shot of the Dread sprues, along with the autocannons still in the box for the aegis defense network. Last bud not least is the librarian. When I had heard that this model was coming out in plastic as part of the fine cast release I immediately decided that I would be buying one. I have been a fan of the model for some time, but the metal model that I had purchased had allot of miscasting and defects on the surfaces that took some time to get cleared up. The scrolls on the top banner were mis-casted as well, so I am looking forward to painting up another one (and coveting it as well!). I hope to have the 5x Terminators well underway over the coming weekend. It seems that once I can get the grays and golds completed on the model- the pace of completing the models generally increases rapidly. I'll be sure to post some WIP pictures as well. As always any comments/ suggestions are always welcome. -Cease

 Re: Ceasarian- Grey Knights
I have a bit more progress with the hobby challenge. I have nearly finished 3x Grey Knight Terminators (out of 5). I hope to have these 3x models completed tomorrow evening/ get started on the librarian and the other 2x GKT's. I have tired a new method of painting the force weapons with these models, and I would really appreciate any feedback/ comments concerning their look (ie. if the old version looked better). The pictures: I will admit- I had a little bit too much fun painting this Daemon's head. As always any comments/ suggestions are greatly appreciated. I feel that I am moving along with this challenge at a rather good rate despite allot of hobby distractions and other things. I hope to have some finished shots soon of these 3x GK's and some more progress on the other parts of this month's challenge (only two more weeks!). -Cease

 Re: Ceasarian- Grey Knights
Thank you Liam2580. The daemon head was straight from the box- no conversions or green stuff used (I'm not that good lol). As far as the bases are concerned I am trying to do a ruined temple/ city look to the entire army. I have made some progress. I'm starting to feel a bit worried about completing another 3x models in the next week (lol), as these past 3x GKT's took me two weeks lol. Anywhoo some P-R-O-G-R-E-S-S! (Un-heard of!) 3x Terminators: I tired a new way to complete the power weapons with these 3x models- and I think that they turned out allot better than my previous attempt. Granted, it took me allot longer than before lol. I also built the Dreadnought- the Duster er....Dakka Dreadnought: I really wanted the big banner on the model (i.e. the Brother Hood banner- wasn't going to use it anyway). I magnetized the banner and the Dread to the base (just like my other Dread). I tried to magnetize the arms- but they kept falling down/ drooping. Alas they have been glued on to simplicity sake. Now this is going to be a problem with my other Dread- as I have to figure out how to make the arms interchangeable (I have completed the lascannon and CCW for it already). But these things happen. I built the Librarian model: I was going to originally take the head out and replace it with a Terminator head- but the psychic hood won't let that helmet to fit (meaning that I would have to use a GKSS helmet (and it wouldn't really fit too). So the Librarian once again remains with his bare head- a most unwise decision in the 41st millennium. Just three more models to finish for this month's challenge. As always any comments and suggestions are welcome, and I hope to have more progress posted up here soon enough. -Cease

 Re: Ceasarian- Grey Knights
Well with less than an hour to go before the close of this month for the hobby progress challenge I am happy to write that I have completed my first month's goal of painting 7x Terminators and a librarian as well as assembling the Dreadnought. This was a tough month with finding time for my hobby- between building a shed (the destroyer of hobby progress) and looking for a summer job throughout the start of the month (and I found one!- Huzzah). While I would like to say that it will be easier this upcoming month, I'm not sure with the truth behind that statement- as I have been given an Ork Stompa to paint for one of the guys at the gaming club, as well as several Hordes models). Anywhoo! On to the pictures: The last three models for the challenge: The Librarian on his own: All of the Terminators from this month: Well, onto next month! I'll be kicking it off with the dreadnought first. Hopefully I'll have some pictures of it soon enough. -Cease

 Re: Ceasarian- Grey Knights
After making some forward progress with the Stompa earlier today I worked on my GK's a little bit. I finished off building the 5x GKSS and finished modeling my two Duster Dreads. Da Pictures! I call them Frik and Frack pending more appropriate monikers. Of course only Frik er....is it Frack (the un painted one) will be in the challenge. The other is my previous Dread that I am working on this month still, but alas not for the challenge. More progress on the Dreads and Grey Knights as a whole soonish I hope. -Cease

Man! Some great progress! I like what you're doing for riflemen dreads. I just came across that idea to use that terrain set from my FLGS yesterday.
