CAMHAMMER - My wargaming Youtube Channel! 7/20 Channel Update

Post by SRM » Thu Oct 27, 2016 9:17 am

Hey all! I wanted to introduce my new channel, CAMHAMMER:
Image
I've been wanting to give something back to the gaming community for a while now, and I thought that producing high quality video content would really do the trick. I'm making the kind of content I want to see, and I'm hoping you all enjoy it too! My first video's a Dawn of War review, and you can check it out here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puAQsWyops0

I'll be uploading every other Thursday with a new video! The channel will have:
- Army Showcases, showing off armies that see battle in my community, with the army’s creator describing their processes and reasoning behind the army
- Tutorials showing how to paint the armies from the showcases, with concise step by step instructions so you can follow along
- Plastic and Pixels, a show about video games based on tabletop games, comparing them to the source material and seeing how they stack up
- Event Reports, where I put on my journalist cap and report on gaming events I’ve gone to
- Battle Reports, edited and narrated after the fact so you’re not stuck watching an hour and a half of dudes rolling dice with crappy audio
And more to come!

Subscribe on Youtube or like the Camhammer page on Facebook for more updates:

Will check it out
Good luck

the editied battle reports are the best way to go as i dont really like watching people roll dice, best to give a cool updates of things that happen in each phase or if nothing interesting happens, for example playing tau becuase they are boring then just at the end of the turn

Exactly! Even the better battle reports out there have a lot of a guy kind of mouthbreathing into the camera for an hour and change, describing things that are going on while they hold a camera. I think editing battle reports down to be nice and tight and under 15 minutes would make them feel more like White Dwarf battle reports of old, while also making them easier to follow along.

Yeah true.
The ones i watch the most are WintersSEO and table top tatics becuase of the over all gaming experience they give, there tables are good and well laid out but most of all there is such a big difference in armies used during the different battle reports. no one wants to watch the same two armies going against each other every week, where the only thing to change are the tshirts the people are wearing.
what plans have you got to avoid this?

To avoid that, I think for starters it will be by not being a solely battle report-focused channel. Repetition is bound to be common when you're uploading a battle report every week, so by staggering out battle reports that'll keep things from getting repetitive.

Second, I have a lot of different armies! While I may be playing my Valhallan guard one video, I'll play my Blood Axes or retro Ultramarines the next. I also plan on doing some Age of Sigmar stuff depending how much I like the game - I've already got a small Empire force for it. By intentionally varying up the armies both myself and my opponents use, I'll keep the variety up.

I'm posting every 2 weeks with a new video, so I don't know if I'll really be on top of new stuff exactly. You can bet when Dawn of War III comes out I'll have a review for that as fast as I can get it out though.
