Rogue Traders in 30/40k

Post by Anubis1028 » Wed Dec 30, 2015 2:23 pm

So maybe someone here with more knowledge of the Imperial Armour books can help me out - a while back I was on a FB page somewhere and it came to light that, in one of the IA books, there's a way to actually take what amounts to a Rogue Trader and retinue in your army. The problem is that I can't for the life of me remember which IA book it was in or even what FB page I was on that gave this revelation! The unit wasn't called "Rogue Trader" but I remember there was someone from GW Design in the group that gave me the heads up that it was placed in there specifically so people could have a Rogue Trader.

Anyone have any ideas?

I don't remember there being a specific Rogue Trader list people can build. Also, I'm not sure

Having said that, in all honesty, the current 40k rules have made it very easy to build a Rogue Trader army.

You can check out the MotF episode on Rogue Traders for more thoughts on how to run them.

The entry wasn't specifically called a "rogue trader" but it had that same basic idea and whoever it was said it was placed in there specifically for fans of the old fluff to get to place one in their army lists. It's driving me crazy that I can't remember which book it was!

I really think the Inquisition supplement is great for making a Rogue Trader and their retinue. Just sprinkle in whatever IG and Xenos you want to hire to work with you and you're good to go.

Think I found it - the Legate Commander in Book 4.

Loopy - kudos for putting the Inquisitor bug in my ear about this....a much better (and financially feasible) idea for what I'm wanting to do. Plus I can throw them in a Valk! :D
