Line of Sight Blocking

Post by cvtuttle » Thu Dec 30, 2010 5:26 pm

So knowing how importan LoS blocking terrain is in 5th ed - I have finally gotten around to starting a large centerpiece that can look cool on the battlefield.

Here is the outline structure that I have assembled today. More details are coming but it's going to take awhile! But from these pictures I think you can get the idea.

The original concept it is based on is from Page 238/239 of the hardback rulebook. (Research Station B8400761)...

Looks great. I've been contemplating doing a few buildings like that for a city battle. Can't wait to see the finished product.

You going to have doors and such? Perhaps section the building so that if you enter doors A & B, it takes a full move to get to the roof (and allows for shooting from the windows?). Stuff like that would be very cool. If you do firing slits, there are actually rules for how to shoot from buildings through firing ports (pg. 79).

Yep - all that is coming. Just the framework is in place right now though.

That will be amazing. I would love to play on a table with a piece like that.

...of course it would make it impossible to snipe an Obliterator, but what the heck...

Talking with Geoff just reminded me that I have TONS of this click together type terrain which I can use as add-ons, doors, etc.

None of this is attached but you can see kind of where I am going with this...

What the heck is that UNPAINTED model doing there?!?!? ;)

That is going to be a great piece. Are you planning to connect it up to a landing pad like in the book (or magnetize it to make it modular/flexible)?

In theory I could make a walkway from it to a landing pad as a separate piece. Right now I just want some type of center piece for my boards.

That is looking sweet Carl! I have some foam I plan to make a large wall out of for a siege scenario I have been noodling on.

This is the sort of terrain that provides all kinds of new opportunities for tough in game decisions, I love it!
